SAm Tomasello loves illustration. Clients include the New York Botanical Garden, MacMillan McGraw-Hill, Scott Foresman, Harcourt, Oxford University Press, New York Times, Business Week, and the Boston Globe. Published works include Gardening with Children for Brooklyn Botanic Garden and Down By the Pond and and Mother Sea Turtle for Brown Publishing Network.

Awards: Garden Writers Association Silver Award of Achievement for Gardening with Children, Art and Science Collaboration Inc. Award for digital images of extremophiles, and Guild of Natural Science Illustrators Annual Members Exhibition, two pieces in American Illustration Annual.

When not illustrating, SAm teaches art to at-risk youth in the New York City Public School System, mentors court-involved youth for the Brooklyn DA’s Office, tutors the formerly incarcerated for the College Initiative’s Prison Project, and works on her own spiritual art images that always feature Buddhas and Buddhesses.
